Riad el Solh is a public square in Downtown Beirut. Adjacent to it, is an excavation site for the mixed-use project ‘Millennium’. The project was cancelled after the discovery of Roman ruins, and it is now closed to the public. Apart from the links to distant past, because of its proximity to the parliament, it is also the one focal points of the most recent revolution.
Foraged materials of the project: Plants consisting of Mallow, Ailanthus altissima seeds, Cork oak, Bottlebrushes, American pokeweed, Crimson fountain grass, False yellowhead...
*We only used what is edible for the final product.
Design realization: Organic plastic vessel as foraging receptacle, the merging the container and contained.
Achieved from shrubs that are an alien to a heavily constructed area, but not so alien as it’s ingrown within the breaks of the sidewalks we walk on every day and usually ignore.
